• Poor vocabulary
• Environmental factors — light, distraction, placement of page
• Regression — going over the same material repeatedly
• Word hopping — reading one word at a time
• Sub-vocalization — pronouncing words in one’s mind as one reads them
• Faulty perception — in return sweep, in rhythm and regularity
